I was driving around an icy blind corner at 30mph and out of nowhere a dark green subaru outback decided to take the "racing line" and apex the corner (presumably to avoid slowing down on the icy road). The outback didn't see my car coming around the corner and he kept to his line. I didn't want to crash, I'm on ice and my truck's ABS is broken and so the only option I had was to go off road and into a 3ft snow bank. I got mega stuck and my grandfather, a man with a trailblazer, and some thick chain pulled me out.
Any tips on vehicle recovery? My 2wd 2000 Blazer doesn't have tow hooks so I have just been hooking to the rear leaf spring bracket and the front steel bumper support bracket thingy. I really want to buy some recovery skids and tow straps.
*Those who aren't on oppo

It doesn't have tow hooks? My moms old 98 jimmy had two tow hooks up front.

Should've taken your other car.

Base model 2wd. It doesn't even have a hitch for towing stuff.

In a pinch frame points to hook to are always good. Use heavy duty straps with hooks. Know that your recovery driver is a reasonable person.
Don't do this.

I did that last year. Didn't get stuck once. The front spoiler acted like a snow plow.

Well that's just a badass picture. That should be your avatar every winter.

I bet you can add them, see if the mount holes exist up front

It got snowy enough my shaker scoop collapsed. The glue the PO used to hold it on gave way. Just look, you can no longer tell the car had a spoiler or hood scoop.

Apex of the yellow line, or apex of the actual street

That sucks. I drive an outback sport and manage not to run anyone off the road...

Edit: I hate subaru outback drivers that aren't on oppo. Good job!

Should hit the fuck, knocked his flat brimmed hat off his Kennifer Blockenspiel wanna be head.
But he probably didn't have insurance.

Yeah! But it was probably an old guy. The car was stock and he turned into a neighborhood where a lot of old people live.

you could buy a D shackle, if you have a hitch mount, attach the recovery strap to the D shackle. hook the D shackle to the hitch mount with no ball on it. no ideas for the front though.
